Packing Tips

Packing and labeling your boxes well is key to minimizing damage. We have come up with the following tips to help you:

  1. Make sure all fragile items are heavily bubble-wrapped and secured well in the box. Use Styrofoam peanuts, clothing, pillows, etc to provide extra cushion.
  2. Be sure to point out to our packing crew the boxes in which you've packed fragile items. Transelva’s team leader will advise you on whether those valuables need to be repacked in sturdier, more appropriate boxes for your international move.
  3. Make sure all boxes are packed FULL. If there are voids in the boxes, they can easily collapse which can cause damage.
  4. Make sure your boxes are securely closed using quality packaging tape and do not use rope or masking tape.
  5. Label your boxes with your first and last name, country your shipping to, and the amount of boxes you have (i.e. 1 of 8; 2 of 8; etc.).
  6. Label all boxes so you can find everything you need the first day your goods arrive to your new home in Europe.
  7. Always used quality cartons.
  8. The heavier the item, the smaller the box it should occupy during a move to Europe. A good rule of thumb is if you can't lift the carton easily, it's too heavy.

Other tips

  1. Do not ship dangerous goods or flammable items without declaring them to UE.
  2. Check all your boxes when the delivery company arrives in Europe. You must make sure of the condition of your boxes containing your goods.
  3. You will be asked to sign a release form. Do not sign any releases without doing a complete inspection to your goods.
  4. If you cannot be there personally, be sure to authorize an adult to be your representative to accept delivery for your international move to Europe.
